Hi Everybody.
Welcome to Cork Nutrition and Wellness.

My name is Elaine McKeon, I am a Nutrition and Wellness Coach . I have been working in the health and wellness industry since 2002. Motivating people to achieve their health goals is a personal passion of mine. It is my belief that we shouldn’t settle for simply clearing illness from our lives, rather, we should strive to  reach a greater state of wellbeing in all areas of our lives. I believe in the holistic approach to wellness, where we aim to be optimise our physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of our wellbeing.

My experience as a Nutrition and Wellness Coach includes teaching health programmes to teenage students in secondary schools for the Department of Education and Science, I work one to one with clients to help them achieve their health goals and I give talks and presentations to groups. In addition, I work in a health shop, where I engage with and advise people from all walks of life about improving their nutrition and the use of supplements to boost their wellness.

Eat Well

As a Nutrition and Wellness Coach, my interest in wholesome food and eating well, led me down the path of studying nutrition. We can truly change our lives by eating the correct foods for us. We are all individuals, which means that we are all unique, both on the outside and on the inside. A “one size fits all approach” does not work. Nutrition is personal and this is why I work with my clients using tailor made dietary plans to achieve sustainable results.

Move More

Pre-historic man had to out-run animals if he wanted to indulge in a meaty meal! Sadly however, our lifestyle has changed radically down through the centuries and has become so sedentary! This is certainly having a terrible impact on our health. We have record levels of cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. By exercising moderately, we can boost our mood, feel less depressed, lose weight and increase our chances of avoiding chronic illness.

Sleep Essentials

Anyone who has suffered sleep deprivation, does not need to be told that it is torture trying to function ordinarily, during the day, without a decent night’s sleep. However, we are doing so many things that are taking from the quality of our sleep. Keeping irregular hours, eating late, exercising late, over exposure to blue light before bedtime are all detrimental to sleep quality. If you want a spring in your step, you must get your sleep essentials in order!

Stress Management

If you are human, the chances are high that you are experiencing chronic stress, that is day in, day out kind of stress, with very little reprieve. It is vital that you become aware of the awful consequences of ignoring stress. Obviously, it can take its toll on your mental health, but did you know that stress can cause weight gain? If ignored therefore, stress can lead to illnesses associated with obesity, such as diabetes and heart disease.
